The Glove is Gold in Seattle

Franklin Gutierrez made an incredible catch on Friday night at Safeco Field. I’d like to think it was a huge momentum swing, The Mariners battled back without flash, but mustered a 4-3 win after trailing early 3-0. Plus, anytime you beat the Yankees, it feels double-awesome.

I then thought about how many great defensive outfielders/outfield plays I’ve seen by my favorite team. I know there are many fans out there that will say the Gold Glove is a popularity contest, but for what it’s worth, check out how well the Mariners outfielders have done with the award since 1990 (Ken Griffey Jr.’s second MLB season).
